Leadpipe: Optional 43. Bigger and Brighter with more overtones and a  freer high range compared to a standard 25 leadpipe. 

Bore: Medium Large Bore (ML) (.459) Perfect for most players.

Overall Condition: Excellent. This is an excellent and powerful Strad! Valves and slides work are smooth and quiet. Lacquer is 98% on the body of the horn. Lacquer has been professionally stripped from the solid silver bell for a livelier sound revealing pure bright silver that is easy to polish. Minor mute dings and minor scratching on the bell from normal use have been professionally repaired at Osmun Music.

Tone: The 72 bell produces a dark, rich, complex tone more powerful than a 37 and works especially well for a professional player who wants a special and unique sound in Jazz, Symphonic and Solo settings. Sterling Plus seamless bells  have superior pitch stability because of their added mass and produce more power on every note allowing a performer to put his maximum into this horn and take it to the extremes with both comfort and security. Sterling seamless bells have been a rare option to find because they are very expensive to produce in an electroplate chamber, use precious metal, and subsequently add $995 onto the price of a new horn.  Pre-Strike Sterling Silver Plus bells are now especially hard to find in this very nice condition because Bach produced very few of them. While all the pre-strike  Sterling Silver Plus bells are fairly rare, the 72 is the rarest bell as most of the production was the 37 and 43 varieties.

Serial Number: 568854 (2003) This is a pre-strike professionally crafted horn that was made in the original Selmer factory before it closed its doors in 2004.
