"Breathing New Life into Classic Instruments"
Bach Stradivarius Model 181SL Bb Cornet
Standard weight bell and body for excellent projection, good response, and durability.
Lead pipe: Standard 25. Fine grained medium dark sound with very good feel and intonation.
Bore: L (.462) Large bore. More open and free blowing than ML models.
Overall Condition: Good. The trigger works very well and compression is very good. Valves are great! It is also very nice to have 3 water keys. Silver plate is original and in excellent shape. There were dents in the bell that were professionally repaired and do not affect the sound, but repair evidence is still there.
This is a very early Elkart Strad, and retains many of the Mt. Vernon features such as metal valve guides, cast bracings, matching numbered valves, Corporation bell, and a traditional finger hook. It also has a great working first valve trigger, third slide water key and lyre box with the original screw. I added a Pedal F stop rod that (together with the first trigger) gives you that nice low "F". This Strad plays nicely. Open and free.
Tone: Warm, focused, open, and resonant. The large bore makes this a more prominent sounding horn than ML models.
Finish: Silver Plate 100%
Serial Number: 33121 (1965) This is a Vintage professionally crafted horn.
Slides: All are free and move as they should
Valves: Crisp and free with very good compression
